Racing

From time to time we all have a go a proving a point with some other road user, fair enough. But it seems that some people cant even get out of the drive way with out racing a typr R or a 911 ect.

I used to drive 40K a year on motorways, towns centres of most of the country, this would be often at weekends late nights ect as well as rush hour. I spent lots of time around the A12/ A13 area from London to Southend, all this mileage was clocked up in a van so no chance of getting invited to join in. But the point is I can not recall seeing people racing each other Yes ive seen cars over taking but none of this flashing of the lights to admit defeat. the amount of posts from non members, often from other sites must mean that at this moment in time 50 differnt races must be taking place. Why have I never seen any? if any spots anything let me know, because it just seems to good to be true that some of us have all these slayings and others never see them.

I do about 40k a year and I dont either. Dont get to "race" very often at myself either for the mileage I do.

Ok I drive the Astra usually 4 days a week now but I used to drive my old 172 every day.

i get races all the time, mainly on dual carriageways. where i live is swarmed with people who try to race you and i always oblige if its a worthy, or even remotley worthy challenge, sometimes il just blow them away or toy with them on roundabouts. half of the time i meet people off here and we go for a blast, ya all know who you are lol, lucky enough to live by some of the longest widest dual carriageways about, and lots of them so its not hard, backed up by a surrounding motorway network virtually on my doorstep.

my hints are, the white wheels, if they can see i got no interior, the induction roar, and full chat guaranteed on the plate gives the game away and invites the boys(and sometimes girls) to play

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

I usually race at 12ish with no other cars on the road or very few, u know there is no undercover pigs then. Lights on roundabouts and onto bypasses are the best hunting grounds.

if you go to merry hill or bham you can get loads of people racing all at once! One time at merry hill there were so many people trying to race there was a traffic queue! I wont race up there too dodgy, too many nob heads in robbed metros failing to realise that there brakes dont work as well as the 200sx/scooby/cossies that they are trying to race and end up shunting them up the rear!

saying that though i had a good blast with an audi a3 quattro an the A14 the other day, looked suprised when he wasnt getting any further away. When the traffic started building up he didnt slow down at all, i did not worth it when there are other cars about.

I have a devil back box which looks and sounds quite agressive and it seems to be and invitation to try and race me, It kind of gets on my nerves when people assume that you want to race them at every set of traffic lights, I drive my car fast BUT only when there are no other road users about, its pointless tearing down a road racing a spotty rep in a debadged low end BMW.

Kind of want to preserve my engines running life as well.:)

  mk2 172

hehe yeah, glad theres plenty of other racers about, otherwise what would it all be for lol, saying that a majority of people on here like to race anything and everything so im not alone

"I spent lots of time around the A12/ A13 area from London to Southend, all this mileage was clocked up in a van "

So your the bugger I always get stuck behind when Im trying to race;)

yeah and you have to adhere to the racers code. This is not hogging the road when the winner is trying to overtake, and to move out of the way if youre in the fast lane. Also the hazards/fogs/main beam flash of recognition that signals the end of a worthy toast. The "im admitting defeat" is commonly recognised by the full beam double blast (as from behind) or the "ive just toasted you mate" hazard warning lights. Adding insult to injury can be signalled by the hazards and the use of the rear fog lights!!! and if youre really clever, engage reverse lights as well. This can be done on my mk.1 172, probably the same on the mk.2s or anything with the reverse where you have to pull up the foreskin type jobby. Pull it up, then slide gear stick to the left quite hard hitting the side and the reverse lights will flash. Suprises people who are tailgating you when youre driving normally too.

i race daily. All sorts of cars. yesterday a Vectra 2.5V6 it pulled away atfer 125mph.

I always get fast cars trying to race me.

ok, so it might be fun to have a blast every now and then, but isnt this all a bit silly.

Street racers code? WTF.....invites? you make it sound like some sort of underground syndicate.

Does nobody else think that this is all blown out of proportion......

  mk2 172

i think its funny, which is what a lot of what we are saying is...........fun, most of us buy fast hatches to pit them against the opposition, its human nature, all a big laugh really, but true racers follow the code:cool:

lol..code...

true racers...but you dont win anything! and there is no finish, how can you technically win?

  mk2 172

lol i really dont know, its just you hope someone gives up before it gets dangerous!

you get the respect mate, to some people that means more lol

racing can be found anywhere you "really" look. when you ask "how do you know when you win", its fecking obvious, you have left them standing and are 2 mile further down the road!

Real races are for money and rarely start earlier than 1am. Last one I saw was for 5K, now thats a race!

You wont see these, lets face it you dont publisise the fact that youre about to hit the limiter in 5th!

oh my.....how impressive!

surely.....off the lights....you could pronounce your win after you gt a better start then finish, sure it might be a 10ft race, but hell u won right....wow.

if you left them 2 miles down the rd...well, i think you can safely say you dont need to race reliants or the other guy was not racing haha!

LOL @ this topic. If you aint getting races your driving like a pussy or have a sh*t car!! Or you are more grown up than me and dont feel the need to race like an idiot :)

  mk2 172

go jonny boy, thats the sprit, racing is a part of daily driving, all my close mate on here race all the time!

  clio 20v

yeh ill race ewt, dont care wot if there game race on

i get loads of people wantin to race me i enjoy kicking there asses or just keeping up is enough to worry some so called "fast cars"

if you dont race ur a big pussy hehe

adi

I was never really that bothered till I got the 172 but its just so satisfying whipping all these r****d ford boys with their knackered piston rings :)

People can think theyve got a fast car but then they get their arse kicked by me in my little clio hehehe. Got my mate big stlye today with is MG ZS. He thought his car was pretty quick until I thrashed him by about 15 car lengths within a mile. Hes saving for a 2.5 now but I would probably whip him in that too. Oh and Im still running in and didnt take the revs above 6k either :)

  320d M Sport

haha, this is funny. in my case its this badge that does the trick:

RENO SPORT U MUTHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yeah, I adhere to the racerz code of conduct :D

Whcih ZS though? Cause the 180s ARENT slow.

I get little fezzy boys, corsas, saxos and sometimes, yes. Clios . Thing is though, with a class looking car, someones going to have to give it a go. And its usually the ford muppets.

  williams and trophy

hehe nobody will race me round my local area so i have to meet up with other likeminded ppl ..usually from off this list lol..........to get my share of races lol

but i do roughly 45-50k a year in the van alone an ill race owt in that too lol

usually losing to the power of the vehicles in front but outcornering em or outwitting the outside lane hogging bmw drivers of this world

wankas lol

I am going to sound really boring now, but I have begun to really think that racing should be kept on track and not on public roads, Its just TOO dangerous to do. Track days or club racing is the best way to use your clio against other cars, not on the roads. At least on track you wont get some 70 year old granny pull out infront of you when your racing someone at over 100. When I first had my clio 172 used to race people occationally on the a127, escort xr3is, xr2is etc. but now just let them go on by, theres no point, what does it prove???? I know my car is quicker, and in some cases its not quicker, so why risk my life and license to prove it, i dont think so.....there, thats my boring rant over with....... :)
