Radio dropping signal

  Clio 1.4 16v 53'
Hi, the tuner list radio I have keeps dropping signal every few seconds when listening to FM; I'm guessing that the aerial connection on the back has come loose. I'm going to pull out the radio to check at the weekend but could it be anything else? The radio aerial seems to be in good condition.
Cheers

Ok, bought the overpriced removal tool from Halfords, popped the radio out and the aerial connection is firmly on and crud free.
Thought for a minute that someone had swapped the original aerial for a shorter one, messing with the signal but looking at other clio's of the same period they all have the same aerial as mine.
Going to give the aerial connection on the roof a clean with some WD40 tonight and see if that does the trick.
Any other suggestions?

Pull down the headlining in the car & see if the aeriels connection is tight, if it's not nip it up (don't go mad on it)
