rain sensing wipers

I'm not sure if my rain sensing wipers are working correctly. I switch them to the intermittent position as per the manual and all they do is remain at the same wipe interval. I would think they should speed up or slow down or stop depending on the amount of water on the windscreen. Is this right?

depends on speed, try going above 40 or so, you should see a difference .

Thanks for your reply. The wipers don't change speed at all unless I turn the dial up or down.
When they are on the normal setting they slow down when I'm stopped.

lol aren't they standard on all 172s and up?
Do they noticeably change speed when the rain gets heavier? Like no longer intermittent...

i dont think any of them work right tbh!!

mine seem to have a mind of their own - too fast when its spitting, too slow in a downpour!

in a downpair they can go to mega fast

ive had my auto wipers go from one sweep every minute or so to on full speed

You have to switch them on by doing a set procedure with the ignition on.... if you check the little clio handbook that came with the car it will tell you. I switched mine on when I got the car and love em :approve:

i love the little twiddle thing to adjust the speed. does bugger all lol

i wish i could turn them off and have normal intermittent wipers.....

they're crap, when trying to get mine just right whilst on an A-Road with lots of spray from lorries they cut out completely! had to stop on an a road cause I couldnt see a thing, stop engine re-start to re-set, crap!!!

Maybe I just got lucky cos mine work perfect so :rasp:

As regards to the "i wish i could turn them off and have normal intermittent wipers" comment..... you can turn them off! check the clio handbook.
