Rain Sensor been cut

Hello all...

Ive just purchased a 52 Plate Diesel and noticed the wire coming off the rain sensor has been cut and when removed the interior light Ive found a three wire connector not plugged into anything..

Can anyone tell me if there is anything missing ie something that the plug should fit into before going to the sensor?

Also I wonder if there has been a problem with the light/rain sensor and thats why its been removed/cut..

Any pics if possible would be a great help..

Maybe its had a new windscreen at some point, but just a standrard one has been fitted in replacement with no bit on it for sensor so its been chopped and hidden away

No.... the sensor is there on the windscreen but the cable coming from it which looks like TV coax has been cut...

Then there must be some thing missing before it gets to the three wire plug connection behind the interior light....:dapprove:

Yeah that 3 pin connectors for the phone equiepment but thats very rare to have it fitted.

But I checked in the Haynes manual and looking at the colours of the wires in the plug they match ones shown going to the rain sensor....shown on the diagram ?

i wouldnt worry about it most people would prefer not to have them i think.

Just to confirm ....Is the rain sensor located on the inside behind the rear view mirror or am I getting confused and this thing Ive found is actually a phone antenna ????????

But the auto lights aint working either and Im lead to believe they use the same sensor............

Mate your in the interior light housing, miles away from the rain sensor, which is in the dark trim above the mirror, pull it towards you.

Cant see any dark trim...Dont suppose you could get me a picture to how it should look..

Think Ive come to the conclusion it isnt there and the bit Ive found is an old phone antenna...

Does it form part of the mirror as well then or is it totally a seperate unit...

Will post a pic tomorrow but my findings are that it isnt the correct screen and there is no sensor...
