Just pull it off and don't hit the bonnet with it when it finally goes as they're tight as a nuns if they haven't been off before.

Happy days, as I was told NEVER to disconnect it - opens up another barrel of problems

  BMW M135i
Disconnect mine loads of times on the 172 and when I took the gearbox out the 1.6, and i've disconnected the meggys one a few times whilst fitting bits and pieces. No problems ever. The connectors quite a good design, who told you that?

Some guy I was talking to ages ago said it would light up the dash & throw errors at me if it's disconnected :S

Maybe there's a certain way of disconnecting it?

  BMW M135i
Nope, only one way and your fine to disconnect it. Must've disconnected it 20 times or so when I had the wiring fault on the 172. Never caused any problems.

Ok fairy nuff :)

Do you have to disable the battery first, and will anything be reset when you reconnect everything again?

  BMW M135i
Yes 100% take disconnect the battery before unplugging anything and no nothing you'll noticed will be forgotten.
