Re - spray Bonnet

  clio sport 172
Hi all!

Purchased my 172 of my best mate back in january this year. Love the car! Apart from the huge stone chips on the front bonnet. On my previous clio i colour coded the bumpers and bullets in silver and wasnt that hard to do.

My question is, would it be hard to almost refurb my bonnet? will it be harder re painting metal than plastic? will it be better than paying £300 for a body shop to do? i have a spray gun and compressor just the technique i need to grasp. what does anyone think?

cheers.

My dads mate owns a body shop i can see how much he would charge for a bonnet spray? he quite cheap too, but his work quality is brilliant

Don't tell me your thinking of a spray can job lol
Like said I got mine done for £90 which seems like the average price.

i just thought that £300 would be right as most paint jobs are cheap. i asked a mate of the forum if he could do it as he has all the gear and said it would be too expensive, some people just talk s**t i guess!

£80 - £90 sounds good thanks for the comments

really depends what your spray area is like and how good your equipment is

you gonna be painting it in a shed? proper booth?

bonnet is a pretty big panel to spray. if its just stone chips at the front then you wont be using a lot of paint, just need to get a nice finish with the laquer

I find it mind boggling that people are getting jobs/ bonnets painted so cheap, if people only new how much it costs for paint and sundrie, booting up the oven, let alone the man hours/labour/ and most importantly skill, possubly if there was more work on the car otherwise what would be the point?

If you've got the compressor, gun and the correct paint then give it a go you've got nothing to lose if you're prepared to get a paint shop to do it anyway.
Just take your time in between coats and don't rush.
If it looks bad then give it to the paint shop you would have taken it to.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
You might find you have a knack for it and decide to change the colour of your car :D

Think it's around 100quid to get the bonnet wrapped by a pro. Don't quote me though ;)
