Rear brake piston won't rewind.

  Clio sport 172
Hi, I have tried to replace my rear pads on my 2003 Clio 172 but the piston would not rewind
I have tried it with a flat head screw driver. I also tried with the rewind tool but could not use this as the carrier was in the way of the actual piston. is there something I'm
Doing wrong as there is no way for the rewind tool to go as the back plate that comes with the tool has nothing to push against.

ages since i done one but im sure i just used a flat head screw driver but use it long ways, so the full lenth of it is flush against the face of the piston and just wind it back anti clockwise i think it is!

I've tried that but no joy. I'm getting some people say it needs to winded in clockwise and others say anti clockwise. I've got a rewind tool but there is no possible way to actually use it as intended due to the carrier being the way of the piston.

Just done my rears, used a wind back tool with the carrier off (2 bolts, remember to thread lock for peice of mind afterwards)......much easier. Failing that, big flat headed screw driver on the slots and tap it with a hammer, be careful not to mash up the slots mind you, but its works. (Its clockwise i thought lol, did it last week if your facing the caliper)

  Whichever has fuel
Big lever bar and rewind it anti clockwise. (Anti clockwise if you're looking from the side of the car)

Ok well that's probably where I was going wrong I was told clockwise so towards the front of the car. I'll try anti clockwise (towards rear of the car) tomorrow and see if it winds in.

Take it the hand brake is off? Mine was seized the other month and didn't take too much effort to free it off.

Yes handbrake is off and cap is of too it's probably the piston seized then if it's not budging as I've tried with a screwdriver clockwise and it didn't budge even with a lot of pressure applied.
