Rear clusters

  Willy2

I checked my rear light clusters today on my phase 1 and I found a load of water had been leaking into them from the boot and had stopped the rear indicator on the drivers side from working, there was a huge build up of white sort crap on the bulbs and the bulb socket on the reverse lights and the indicators. Has this happened to anyone else? I cleaned it with some wire wool and solved it but it did turn into bit of a pain. any suggestions to stop this from hapening again?

Raj,

Make sure the seal in in the correct place and also that the light cluster itself sits in the two lugs at the bottom, noticable by the bottom of the light sticking out further than it should.

My valva is getting on a bit, so with the age i do expect things like that, Before I looked at it, a garage that was working on my car for something else reckoned that it was a switch on the gearbox that was broken, bloody leeches. I did remedy the problem but i thought it could be of use to others if for example their rear lights stopped working. But all you need is some wire wool and about half an hour to clean up all the white deposit. Happy cleaning
