Rear wheel arch felt liners

Hi,

My Clio 182 had a felt liner on the inside face of it's nearside rear wheel arch. This has disintegrated and didn't survive the last underbody pressure wash.

Are there meant to be one on both sides of the car?

Are they necessary or merely to minimise water spray from the middle of the car?

Yes both sides and basically disintegrate over the years and are very rarely seen these days.
Yes you will be fine without them.
