Recaros

  Not got a car
I see that when buying a 1*2 sport new from the dealer Reacros were a extra at £500 (I think)

So could i get these from Renault now for the same price? Been waiting for some 2nd's to come up but nothing.

OLR

  Ph1 172 and Red 197
dont think so. Plus they are £1300 ish
The extra £500 was to down grade the bake bench and take the front seats in exchange

  Recaro'd 182
try the for sale section, few pairs in there at the mo. you on about the recaro trendlines right? there about £700 to £850 second hand dependant on condition.

wouldnt change mine unless I went down the weight saving route. they are excellent!
The seat itself if decent for a road application, but not track. The biggest issue is that they aren't low enough, not even nearly.

yeah i know what you mean. they look the t1ts. are reali supportive and comfortable. they look so much better than standard seats, reali finish off the interior!
the thing is i know that they are worth enough to sell on here and i could replace them with more track orientated seats in the future when the time is right (as im sure it will be one day). I cant see myself getting rid of this car. just maybe transform it into a track go-er for the future.

This is exactly the path I trod.

Had the Evo seats - Warren told me I was wasting my time but I hasten to add that they were VERY cheap. They were very comfortable but I don't think they provide a huge amount of support over the standard seats tbh, and the height doesn't change drastically - maybe 20mm at the most.

Then decided to fit the Bimarco bucket style seat and over the moon with the results. Weight, seating position, hold etc all ideal; and I drive 30 miles plus daily :)

Im in the process of selling my Recaros. The reason I chose to sell them is simple, I am getting into to more track action, and for that the Recaros are average. For everyday road use, they are excellent though!!
So I replaced mine with Futuras (and harnesses!), I only do 30-40 miles a week, so I will happliy sacrifice comfort for hugging seats! ;)

I think the recaro trendlines are good if you want the next step up from the standard seats, they are comfortable and look good and i think they suit the clio in a strange way... is that they could be lower, i think it lowers it by 10mm, which is not enough and the bolsters by your legs could be higher to hold you more in.

But if you are looking to track it regularly then i would make the move to bolted in seats, that hold you in no movement or anything.
I want to do trackdays soon, and i am going to get some harnesses and attach them to my trendlines just because i dont want to sell them just yet.

I was considering harnesses with my Recaros, although it sounds good, there's no strap holes for waist straps, so they just sit over your waist, not holding you in place :(

wen i 1st test drove a clio, it had recaros in and i wasnt keen on the driving position, maybe if u messed about u cud get it to a comfy pposition but there too big for a small car. maybe better in the 197 as its bigger.

If you guys didn't charge a fortune for them id have already bought a pair of those bad boys off you!:rasp:

^ I think what you are paying for mainly is the JMS engineered subframes. I bought seperate subframes, and they didnt work, they were WAY too high. And I think JMS still keep the runners too.
I regret not getting it done via JMS, I think it would look a lot neater, and a hell of a lot easier to fit too!

I was told that you could drill underneath the car to fit brackets for the side straps and just feed them by the side of the seats... If that make sense...

Yeah they are well expensive, especially when renault only charge £800 for the cs sportser in there clios.

lol I've just quoted & taken an order for a pair fitted with frames, replacement airbag & pretensioner resistors all in for £749.99

For example, an equiv alternative - same size, same FIA approval, same weight: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=ROAD&pcode=REC070980184

£465.00 Each. Thats £930 for a pair in your living room. Never mind frames, fitting & resistors!

I'll leave you to make up your own mind if ours are that expensive ;)

Please bear in mind these are FIA approved seats and the frames have been tested, no aspect is "knock-off".
