Reckon this 'chip' is repairable?

Went to put some screenwash in the car this morning and noticed this chip.

It's a little bit smaller than a 5 pence piece I'd say.

Would someone like ChipsAway or whatever they're called be able to repair this?

Needing it done ASAP before it all flakes away!

Has it had paint before? Seems odd for it to peel like that.

It could be repaired without painting the entire bonnet, but I think you'd see it. Better off getting the whole bonnet done in my opinion.

Not that I know of mate! A whole bonnet job is big big dollar isn't it? I've never had anything sprayed to be honest!

Doing a whole bonnet is a dodgy effort.
If it's done well, fine, but you could just as easily wind up with a bonnet a different colour to the car.
In which event, may as well just carbern wrap it :(

What would you recommend then mate? Reckon a company like ChipsAway could do something like this? Either that or buy a bonnet off someone breaking a Nimbus 197?

I wouldn't trust chipsaway for such a prominent position.
Ask a "proper" bodyshop, they'll be far better placed to give you a meaningful answer than all the CS posts ever.

Fair enough mate! Don't know of any in the area but I'm sure Google is my friend here.

Accident repair centres would be a good place to start.
If they've got high-value cars out the front, have a look
If they look more like they're doing cut-n-shut jobs on old rovers, move along

Will do brother! Cheers for the advice! I'll keep you updated on the damage.

good luck.
Last thing anyone needs in their life is bodywork issues.
I'm staring down new rear wings at £300 a side.... it's got to the point where I might just have to bin off Listerine :(

Jesus! That's a whole loada dollar! I've got a list as long as my arm of mechanical repairs needing doing already.. went to put some screenwash in this morning and noticed that little gem!

New metal needed innit. :(
80 quid for the repair panel
200 quid to fit it, seal it and paint it.

just get the bonnet sprayed again got mine sprayed for 100 and no issues

Mental! Has all the work been done now?

Lowest quote to have the whole bonnet resprayed (as all companies are saying that's what will have to happen) is £420 + VAT!

jesus thats crazy money 420,chipsaway then m8 get quotes as there are lots of mobile companies competing

£420 was ChipsAway! Managed to get it down to £330 inc. vat!

They've all said;

'Silver is the hardest colour. It'll look out of place so we may need to blend the bumper etc etc which will cost more'

smell bs m8.chipsaway quoted 225 to repair small crack in front bumper.local bodyshop 70 quid painted how they can justify prices

It is mental. I thought shops/bodywork people would just be able to repair the area, not have to do the whole bumper. Even if it isn't 100% perfect, you know?

Any bumper, any size, most colours, is £150 down here. £200 absolute max.

Bonnet (providing it doesn't need dent removal/ heavy filler) is £150. Again, £200 absolute max. I work for a BMW main dealer and even we don't charge £450 or whatever obscene price it is you've been quoted.

I'm in Bristol me old fruit.

Looks like I might be taking a trip to Bristol then! Wonder how much Renault would charge! Do they even do that in their shops etc?

Yes mate, and if they don't, they'll use someone local.

Where do you live? (I'm on my phone, I can't see)

I want to know what shocking garage is doing bonnets for £85 and bumpers for £70!

Oh and if you do use chips away do 2 things. Put away another £200 to fix it or say goodbye to a few hundred quid come sale time.

Are they really that bad? There's no chance I'm using them - double every quote I've had!

Well you see I always bring it down to one point. Why would my garage spend 80k on a paint booth if we could paint a car perfectly well in a tent, outside, in the climate.
