Recommend me some detailing products

Hello people.
Could you please recommend me some detailing products. Ive got a 2003 mondial blue cup. Tbh for a 7 year old car the paint work isnt too bad, just the odd swirl, a few stone chips and scratches and tar marks. What would be the best products to use to remove most of these?

My car does get cleaned most weeks with just a wash and wax and some demon shine and as i said it doesnt look bad for a 7 year old car but i want it to look a bit better.

Im not a massive detailer (hence the lazy demon shine lol) so i dont want to spend a massive amount of time or money on this.

Thanks in advance :D:D

LOL! Detailing = Time & Money. There is no escape!

IMO, stick to your wash and wax combo "Demon shine"

If you want to the bodywork seen to, spk to a local detailer and shell out 70-100£. (min)

Get some Zaino Products, not hugely expensive and piss easy to use with good durable results.

Zaino Z5 topped with Z8 is a good one. Get some decent washing s**t and drying s**t and you have what you need.

  Stagecoach Ticket
Clay bar and lube - £15? should remove most stuck on crap
Autogylm tar remover -£8
Autoglym SRP -£8
Autogylm EGP- £8
Poundland tyre shine x2 £2

Proberly the cheapest way to get a clean looking car with a decent shine if you wanted to go abit more on top of that wax

Megs wax- £8

Or get some decent stuff but then your looking at £40 for the likes of High def, banana armor etc etc

Only way to get to the finish levels of some of the geeks on here including myself :(. Is about 8-10 hours and £300 worth of gear or pay someone else as Ali sais that will do it for you

Cheers Guys.

Products ordered are :

Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System
Autogylm tar remover
Autoglym SRP
Autogylm EGP

Hopefully the weather will be nice next week when im off work to spend a day on the car.

I just bought some SRP and EGP. Gave the car a machine polish, gave it 2 goings over with SRP then 3 coats of EGP and its like oily glass! Sooooo smoooooth!!

I got 25 litres of SRP for £27 off ebay and a little bottle of EGP for £6 off ebay.

Excellent. I cant wait to get it proper clean.

My plan of action it to clay, then hand polish the fiddly bits, machine polish. the some gold old elbow grease with the EGP until i get the finish i want.

How much cutting action does the SRP have mate? Did you use in on the MP?

Very little cutting, but enough for odd jobs. It also has fillers, so will make the best of poor paint work if you don't have the time/need for proper paint correction.

It will last a while, but is far from awesome looking.

Took the words right out my mouth,

If your happy with dull flake, or cloudy looking paintwork, which is definately noticable on black or dark cars, then get 467s. Durable it is. pretty, it is not.

Youll get a shitload of different answers here, either get the Autogylm products reccomended or go Zaino. You dont have to spend fortune.

Since when was nattys Blue any good?

  Mini Cooper S
SRP on the Kestrel DAS-6. How should it be applied? Obviously it's not a cutting compound. Just slap it on number 5 and work your way round the panel at a swift rate?

Id say 3-4 will be fine. It removes marring and fills swirls. Work it in overlapping strips to get decent coverage. Doesnt take too long.

Have been using autoglym srp and egp for years now on a number of different cars/colors, and havnt found anything that beats it, cheap, easy to use and gives great results.

Use it twice a year, mar/apr to get it nice and shiny for summer then again in Sep/Oct to pretect it from the winter elements. job done.

For a water running finish try turtle wax's polishing. Wax about a tenner for a tub but a lil work and the rain just falls off the car an a glass finish i too use the lazy deamon shine but go over with the wax polish and all the comments i get is wow for 02car thats in top condition!! Even better that its black!!! So say the hardest colour to keep clean!!

I had a black car once. Never again lol. My White car was easier to keep clean then the black one. I can't wait to get working on the car now. I seem to have fallen in love with it all over again and wanna make it look even better then it does already

There are much better products out there, but for people who want a cheap easy option from Halfords, I agree.

I really wouldn't. There are much much better waxes out there, for the same price.

Oh and resend the PM, I went down to f**k all space as a "forum user" for a few minutes.

Ok, so the car is now done. Took a fair few hours over two days. So day one: Washed using the two bucket method with some autogym tar remover which to be honest i was a little dissapointed with. Didnt remove half the tar marks i thought it would. Then obviously dried before the claying begun. This took about fours hours, but i did stop twice for a cup of tea as it was a bit cold. Was pretty impressed with the results just after claying. Some stubborn tar marks took a little more work then others but overall i was quite impressed. Then on to the SRP. Gave the car a nice shine and gone are the swirl marks, but it probably wasnt as abrasive enough to fill in a few little scratches properly. And i can see Gally's point that its very dusty. Had to give the car a good wipe over after i'd buffed it all off to get rid of all the dust particals. It was then left over night as it was getting a bit cold and the light started going. So this morning i got up and set to the last bits of the EGP and inside clean. The EGP was seriously easy to use, and im quite impressed with it to be honest. So all in all im happy with my first detailing session. I will most probably use a different polish next time but for my first go im happy. Here are some pics to show the results. I should of really took some before photos but i forgot
