Registration!

I enquired about the Registration A172 CUP with the DVLA and they wont sell it to me before the auction takes place but i have to buy a brochure priced £5,50 then be on the phone for the duration of the auction.. she says it will fetch a fair bit more than £250 (reserve) if the right people are bidding! like 10 or 20 times that! The word CUP on registations seems to bump the price up!

A friend of mine who lived in the States for four years thinks that we are mad paying up to several thousands for car number plates, when we can get them for nothing! She says that where she lived, they could pick any numbers and letters for their cars.
