reliability of clio 16 valve mk1

helo, i am tempted to buy a clio 16valve mk1

id be looking for a late model n reg, (pretty sure thats the mk1)

i was just wondering what the reliability would be like in general?

i have a friend with a h reg. rs turbo fiesta and it regularly gives repair bills....

my current car is a 1998 r reg. fiesta ,moded of course :) lol

doubt i could put up with constant repair bills.....too much money and hastle.

thanks for any replies!! apreciate it

Its just the things like clutch, waterpump, cambelt that are expensive due to teh cramped confines of the 16v engine bay. Make sure these type of things have been done. Or get them done at same time as labour wont be too much more to do all three than just one.

My car has never broken down, there jinxed myself now.

As long as you get a good one that has actually been maintained youll be fine - theyre great cars and are no more costly than most hot hatches.

If, like me, you get one which had EVERYTHING waiting to be done get friendly with a bank!

Mines a k reg mate, and basically, waterpump, cambelt, altenator belt, starter motor, clutch, tend to start going around 75000. So if they have the bills to prove they have had these repairs done buy it! as you prob wont have much more probs with her after that. Oh clutch cable went a few times on mine, but think that was due to the clutch being fooked, i always carry a spare with me now. Other than that mate nothing majour has gone wrong and hopefully some dude will be buying mine *Fingers crossed*

Yeah, Mines played up a little bit but nothing major. . . There awsome cars esp for the insurance group Go forth and Purchase a valver :) Just make sure its been looked after and youll be fine. Once you have bought it Service it regardless and let the fun begin. Tum tee tum tum tum.

;)

Mine is starting to give me some problems now and is doing my head in. Clutch, Starter, Alt. Need new brakes, anti roll bar, goes on. Its on 130K at the mo tho. Worth it tho when its running sweet. Engine is fine, just the bits bolted to it give up.Wont get rid of it tho.

Get one you wont be dissapointed.

I bought one with re-con head (and consequently new cambelt), new gbox and new clutch. Just needed a new clutch cable, new column and a new alarm, and a few bulbs for the dash.

Other than that it has been no trouble at all. I bought knowing what needed doing though, and what had been done.

cheers for that fellas!!
