Relocating coolant top up tank

Would dropping this tank down say half a foot cause problems with the coolant system or running of the engine?
I am running the V6 airbox straight off my TB and the top coolant pipe coming out of the top up tank is in the way so i wanted to either move the whole top up tank to the left behind the TB or move it down lower into the engine bay. Does that tank need to be higher than the engine itself? I don`t fully understand how it works and the implications.
Any other ideas in relocating the tank?

yes it needs to be highest point really, so as to maintain a head of pressure.

So i`m best moving it to the left then and keeping it at same level?

How about finding a bottle of similar size at the scrap yard but with the pipes where you want them to be?

renault do a front panel mounted one, but obviously the pipework would need relocating.
