remote key fob not working?

  Clio 1.4 RT
as title states, the key fob isnt disarming the immobiliser, so i cant start the engine, tried replacing the battery but the led in the key still doesnt light up??

any ideas?

is the immobiliser light flashing?

I had this with my old dynamique when trying to start the engine. You will need to take it to Renault yes, mine was f**king annoying because sometimes it would be fine and then sometimes it would not start for a good 30mins of turning the key

If the fob opens the doors then the key itself should be fine.

Just had the same flipping problem with mine, using spare key now solved problem straight away no more immobiliser light flashing. gona get the old key sorted at reno in the near future just incase. such a pain as it leads u on by locking and unlocking the car but then u cant go anywhere!!! ahhh

I've had multiple alarm/immobiliser problems with mine, now they just can't work out what is wrong with it, it's being chopped in in a couple of weeks time now just had enough of the car and the dealers now!

immobiliser light is flashing on the clocks area of the dash
ive tried replacing battery (cr2016) but i only had a cr 2032 which is slightly thicker, but the key still closed back up, but on press of the button, no led lights up on the key and the doors dont unlock when pressed either. do reno need to recode it to the car? if so how much does it cost?

When I picked-up my 182 a few weeks ago, I was given two remote key fobs and the dealer-man told me to rotate the fobs every two months, or else the fob that you have been using will eventually fail to disarm the immobiliser. To fix this, you have to use the other fob, he said.

This is apparantly the case for all new renaults.

I doubted this, but it appears that this is the case for you since you only have one fob?

He muttered some techie stuff about something in the key ticking over and each press would tick it once, and eventually it wouldn't match what the immobiliser requires, so you need the other fob. I don't know, I didn't get it. Perhaps someone out there can explain, or verify that you need to rotate fobs.

i think you'll find thats him trying to make u use both so both batteries run out, albeit a bit slower. like rotating your tyres lol
