remove headlight for RR

got the ph1 172 track car booked in for a custom dyno remap at RStuning tomorrow by paul. The car has an open induction kit behind the headlight currently with not the best cold air feeds.

what i wanna do is remove the headlight for the dyno to get the best possible RR results. The headlight will be removed for track days but on the road the headlight will remain. Will the map be ok on the road considering the map will be expecting alot more air than what it will be getting.

thanks

yes remove it definitely. The map will be spot on for the track, you'll get a better dyno reading and there will be nothing wrong with the map for road use with the light in

is it 3 bolts to remove? top, grill side and behind front bumper?

yup
if its a track car you may get away drilling two holes in the bumper where the 10mms for the headlight are

i reckon if you undo them in situ you could get the headlight on with the bumper on (ages since i've looked at a ph1)

save a bit of time for quick on off if its gonna be a regular thing

just run with the bonnet open, much less hassle and the same affect

the bonnet will be open I believe but wouldn't the rr fan be pointing towards the bumper rather than the bonnet?

What I want to do is remove bolt behind bumper and leave the other two bolts in. Means I can take out headlight without taking the bumper off

yeah but a RR fan isn't going to create the same affect as driving on the road

without headlight should in theory provide a higher rr result so think I may remove it. Can see what you mean fred but as they say every little helps

no chance mate, that fan won't "force" any extra air in

remember the engine has to suck the air in, blowing air at it will do f**k all
