really. damn. im busy painting the inside door grip things and i really thought i could paint that thing too.. i got a screwdriver under the section at the bottom and could see a clip but not a chance does it want to clip out or anything. i think the head unit has to come out too.

anyone know how that works?

damit!! there must be a better way than masking it. i dont wanna have to cover the whole of my car with newspaper just to spray the dash surround. how does the head unit come out?

the silver bit on the center is a part of the dash

if you stick a flat screwdriver in the bottom right in the middle and push the dash back you will see a clip

its is part of the dash. It has tabs which are melted in. Your going to have to mask it or take it out of the car ( bit of a pain)

an old thread, but it does come out and i've painted it, but it involved cutting off the heater tubes around it, hacking off the melted bits, and refixing with a plastic soldering iron, i wouldn't reccomend it, i don't think your ment to remove it!!! i only did so because i had to replace the heater assembly that's part of the dash and it was only a small step further lol!

there are screws and its also heat welded? basically it has been melted to the dash, you could get it off but it'd mean the whole bottom dash out then getting it off and i dont know how you'd get it back on tbh!

Whats the crack with those steering wheel grips?

Are they stick on jobs or has the steering wheel been retrimmed?

Pretty sure it does come out but a dash out job. Simply not worth it
