Removing airbag ecu

After abit of time stripping my car and when I get round to fitting buckets, new steering wheel etc, there is going to be no point in my airbag ecu so I'm thinking of just removing it now in preparation, is it as simple as disconnecting battery, waiting, unplug and tidy the wires away? Or do I expect the airbag to blow up in my face? I've got a few lights on my dash anyway so one more can't hurt if it stays on once remove, Would it require a specialist to remove the loom aswell as I've been trying to keep the inside of my car bare wire free?
