Removing cambelt

I'm changing my head gasket so I've obviously removing the cambelt, everything is removed but I can't undo the bottom nut on the wheel that the alternator belt goes too? Any help or advice on how to do it please?

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you don't know how to get the pulley off then are you sure removing the head is a job you should be doing?

Do you have the tools for timing it back up?

Thanks but I've done it. And yes I can do it I was just looking for advice. Would rather learn how to do stuff myself than take it to a garage and have a massive bill.

Nice one, good old screw driver.


I was suprised when I read this in Renaults own manual! I presumed they would have some elaborate and expensive tool but now 'jam a screwdriver in the flywheel' is the answer!

Would rather learn how to do stuff myself than take it to a garage and have a massive bill.

If you do happen to mess it up, that bill is going to look puny compared to what you'll end up having to drop to put the car back on the road again.
