Removing decals from 2118s - tips & advice

How easy is it to remove original decals from a brand new set of either white or anthracite 2118s, and what product(s) would you use?

I don't want to damage the wheels in any way but blue simply doesn't go with Capsicum so the graphics would need replacing, if I decide to go down the 2118 route.

Thanks

Soak some kitchen roll in tardis and then leave on the decal for a couple of mins. Peel of the decal and then decontaminate as normal and seal in with a decent wheel sealent.

Tardis hasn't made any impression whatsoever. Doused kitchen roll in it and left it to soak the decal for quite some time, but no joy.

Any alternative suggestions?

I've got some newish turinis with decals that have been slowing coming off. They don't look like standard stickers. I jet washed then a bit too close the other day and they seemed to come off fairly easily.

Lol if they have been lacquered over you ain't getting them off without stripping the wheel back and re painting.

Stick black stickers over the top?

I bought a set direct from speedline many moons ago for about £20

Clay bar and lots of time on your hands. You could use a mild cutting compound to take the top layer off.

Factory fitted these are printed on, not stickers btw.

Claying will not remove lacquer, just leave it a mess of swirls if you really go at it.

As for using a compound to remove the lacquer that's a bit drastic isn't it? As you'll then need to prep and re lacquer. As for removing the lacquer, you'll be there a long time with a cutting compound to remove enough to remove the stickers.

Unless my two sets of new wheels were any different to the norm, the decal printing looks like its done after the wheel is painted and lacquered.

A little update - I've tried using clay for a minute or two on a small section of the logo and the clay instantly turned blue, which suggests to me that there is no lacquer covering the printed-on graphic.

When I've got some more time I'll carry on with the clay but are there any other products which I could use to aid the process? Meek suggested a mild cutting compound - such as??

Also, are some clays more aggresive than others? It's an AG clay I'm using at the moment, with Rapid Detailer as lube, should I consider getting a more performant clay (aware that the wheels are more likely to be affected by marring)?

Today's update - it's not a sticker at all, as Meek quite rightly stated, it's just printed on top of the lacquer. As a result I've shifted it using SRP and a lot of elbow grease!

Nope - it's out on loan at the mo but with only 1 set out of 8 done so far, and an aching hand/wrist (more so than usual) I'll definitely be trying that method on the remaining 7 prints.

Cheers fella
