removing immobiliser switch

i need to unplug the immobilser switch so i can get at the cigar lighter socket. Thing is i havent a clue when it comes to security - if i just unplugged it with the red light flashing, will it C*ck up the engine or would I need the ignition on before I pull out the bottom plug

by the way this is on a mk1 clio

immobilser switch ? its not is it ? it just flashes AFAIK, two flatheaded screwdrivers, one either side and prise it out

the long black plug that connects to it with all these wires in it got me worried :\
