removing interior handles

  350z, Subaru Legacy
I'm trying to replace one of the interior roof/grab handles as the spring in it has gone. I've got the right sized torx screwdriver but not a lot seems to happen when the screw turns...

Looking at the replacement one I have, I'm wondering if I have to turn it for a bit then just pull it quite hard?

Not sure, just don't want to damage the headlining or anything. Any advice?

Cheers,

Putting it politely they are an absolute bollox to get out & put back in again!

The screw goes through a tiny washer which falls out and down into the chassis - hours of poking around with a magnet if you want to get it back!

Unscrew it about halfway then give it a dam good pull, but at the same time be careful of the plastic grips inside the hole - they are like cheese and twist/break very easy

Right, :S I'm tempted to get some of the blanking plates to replace it with, like on the drivers side. Just because I can imagine getting them back in to be painfully awkward...

Hopefully the washers haven't already fallen out... hmm lol
