Removing new clio grille

Trying to remove the top grille on my Extreme..i can only see the two rubber type screws which seem to attach it but they wont come off, should i be looking somewhere else.. has anyone got an engine pic of a non-172 new clio?

I had the same problem Rob, and I was going to post a topic on here. But you beat me to it.

After the posts I made about an exhaust, Ive settled for a K-Tec system with the 4inch slashcut tailpipe.

Ill let you know what it sounds like when I get it..... hopefully getting it fitted on Saturday morning.

What do Renault think about non-stand exhausts? I rang them up, they said itll void the engine warranty because it may affect emitions and stuff.

Does that mean that any exhaust fitted by someone other than them voids the warranty. So even if i put the old exhaust on for service time, theyd still say the warranty as void because the exhaust had been tampered with?

Cant wait for my exhaust though.
 


The grille on a non 172 has those plastic clips on it which u can pop off....but there are more grips for the grille on the back behind the plastic stuff. Theyre hard to get to but it can be done....im puttin a pic uup of my engine tonight with my ramcharger kit inside :) but u shouldbe able to see how the ktec grille fitted and thus hopefully solve ur problem.

Where are the clips David? looking forward to seeing pics!

stee69 no ones gone for that 4inch one so will be interesting to see..the exhaust isnt covered by the warranty so they should ignore it, they didnt mention mine when it went in for a service.

undo the two top plastic screw clips along the top of the grill (The bit that goes over the slam panel) then you can pull it forward enough to get a hand down behind and start undoing the clips - easy.... as long as you have b**ch hands like fred ;)
 


once u have the top black screw / locking pins out, u have to pull it forwards a bit and slide ur hand down the back of it.....and un do all the clips around the painted part of the bumper that hold it on. Also remove the blanking plate behind the grill on the passenger side.....once u get ur hand in and scratch it to hell, you should see where it is clipped in all the way round over and beyond the Renault Diamond badge......happy scraping of skin hehe, Rob

RobFenn I like big dirty exhausts, and i think a 4inch slashcut personally would look better than say, a twin 3inch ?

Ive been told by K-Tec that it is quite loud, but i cant wait to hear it around 4krpm.

Ill keep you posted.
 


Yeah they do sound great for 1.2s with them on, and at 4k the noise changes to something worth shouting about..you wont be disappointed!

i eventually worked out why 4000rpm does something on mine..........thats where my torque jumps up to its max of 80lb/ft.......its worth it for the note change!!!hmmmm
 


Yeah i didnt have too much trouble with them actually. They seemed to pop off easy. Then its the ones at the back behind the black original whcih seemed to cause me agro. Still ave a go and let me know!

Well last weekend i just kept unscrewing and they kept going round and round and round without coming out, so think ill have to use some persuasive force!

Ill print out this thread anyway which will do me some good im sure!

Ok had another go this weekend, managed to undo the screws. Saw the clips but couldnt undo them, couldnt work out how they came off? Ended up snapping a whole row of them clean off, doh! So whats the technique??

Cut it off i rekon!!! But make sure u leave enough time to do it! Dont wanna b messing around @ night.

I think its gonna b pretty hard then m8. Why would u wanna keep it?? for when u sell? i think it would be something u could leave on and people would like it. Althoughu could always buy an ms designs grill l8r on. Aside from that mate i dunno, ktec tell u to cut it off with their instructions, but i did hear rumours u could take the standard off without touble.
 


undo the 2 screws which is quite hard but after u pull the grille forward slightly there are loads of clips and things, just undo everything there is to undo in that area, thats all i did ! ha ha ha ha
 


yeah im stuck at the undo everything there is bit Do you pull/push/move to side? I tried pulling and ended up ripping a row of them off!! Dont suppose youll be at the bluewater meet on sunday?

lol!!!!! dont think much more descriptive words can be used Rob...... hmmmm, right, as u rip the skin off ur hand sliding it behind the grill (once the top two screws out) u have to PUSH the clips DOWN, and OUTWARDS at the sides (i think - from memory). then the whole grille slides backwards towards engine bay. take a drive up north sometime if your bored and ill see if i can remember how to do it!!! all the best mate, tother Rob
