removing scratches from perspex?

  Lionel Richie
i need to remove some scratches from a sheet of perspex, looks like someone's been at it with a brillo pad!

i'm thinking wet and dry, then go bonkers with the rotary

i've been told if i take some heat to it then the flame will "polish" the marks out? i reckon it'll just melt!

when people say heat it they mean it will have the same effect as scratch X would on a scratch, smooth the edges of the scratches to make them appear much improved...

Flaming perspex is usually best done on the edge of clear sheet when its been cut and looks white . Depending how deep the scratches are , you might have some success with the rotary and some very mild abrasive polish , but you might see some deformation of the perspex if you concentrate in one spot . Megs scratch X will remove some minor scratches .I wouldn't bother with the wet n dry tbh .

There are a few polishes out there for removing scratches from clear plastics and perspex, most are suited for removing light marks from headlights, instrument binnacle faces, helmet visors etc. Not sure how effective they will be on the damage you describe.

Look into the Meguiars Pro Line Plastic Polish, S100 Plastic Polish or Plexus.

I machine headlights etc with the same polishes as I use on the paintwork.
