Removing Strut Top!!!!

argh... having lots of trouble removing the top of the strut in the bonnet area... got the allen key in there, goose neck spanner around the bolt, no matter how hard i turn it wont budge!!! any tips?!

rock solid, is it a two man job?!

Its only torqued to bout 60Nm, so it shouldnt be too tight. Get some WD-40 on it.

Hold the allen key (hex keys with ratchet connection is better) still and turn the nut anti-clockwise

i have tried that soo fookin stiff, need a mate to hold it really.. is the nut on the top 21mm??

Yes mate 21mm, have you got a bit of tube to put over the spanner (make the handle longer) make it a bit easier.

Get yourself an impact wrench. I bought one for £10 and it wipped the strut tops straight off. The other option is to take it to a garage and get them to airgun them off, then do them up loosely to get you home and then take it from there. Personally I would go with the impact wrench though as they can be had easily for £10 and if you are planning on doing this sort of stuff in the future it's well worth it.

2nd that impact wrench, spent ages tryna do it.

£15 quid later took me about 45 mins to change my dampners over.
