Removing the plastic outer sills

  Land Rover
How are the plastic outer sills removed? Obviously there’s one screw at the front but how are they held on along the length of the sill?
I want to tske them off the treat the sills with Wax based rust inhibitor. But can’t see how they are fixed on and don’t want to break anything pulling them off the car.

Riveted on at the bottom and then clipped onto the car. Remove that screw, drill the rivets and pop them off.

However, they rust from the inside not the outside so it's probably a bit pointless.

You would be better off removing the rear door cards and treating the inside but be warned, you might not like what you find ?
It’s inevitable you will damage the skirt removing the rivets either melting the plastic or drilling off Center through the rivet.
Not worth removing unless you’re sure you need welding.

OK

My car seems very clean underneath (rust free) but l will remove the rear trim panels to have a look.
It seems they just pull off? The rear trim panels that is.
The dent man seemed to have the O/S panel off in seconds when he did the minor dent in the rear panel.

Remove the rear speakers first, then they just pull off.

I took off the rear trim panels and there was no corrosion except for a bit of oxidising around the trim mountings where they go through the panel.
Anyway each side now has about half a can of spray grease in it.
So that will help to keep the rust at bay.

Without removing my side skirt completely how can I rectify this?

A gap has appeared between the skirt and the car. ?

Was going to say adhesive if you weren’t removing in the future. Not uncommon atall that. Are they held by clips?

You recently jacked up on the sill Paul? They can cause the side skirts to push out at the top like that if all bent

Check the screws are secure at the back of the front wheel arch.
If they are loose or rusted it allows the outer sill to move slightly, as it had on mine.
The screws and spire nuts are still available from Renault for a few pounds.
