Renault Are Thick

Not sure if any of you seen recently but i had a post within the Technical Forum which was to do with an alarm coming from my engine when the ignition was turned. No-one seemed to know what the alarm was, so yesterday i took my car into Benfield Renault Scottswood Road, in Newcastle upon tyne. I then waited like a spare prick for 25 minutes, it got too much and i was getting riled up so i left cause i had an appointment that i was going to be late for which would make me even more angry. So i told the person there that they were taking the piss a bit cause there was no-one else waiting and left. Anyway on my way out of the garage a little mechanic came out, i stopped the car and popped the bonnet so he could take a quick look. He told me "Thats normal mate, yeah, all Clio 172 Sports do it" so i thought, b****cks, im already going to be late i will tackle and argue later. Anyway on my way back from my appointment i called into a Renault dealer in Morpeth and asked them. 2 Mechanics there both listened to the noise which is obvious cause its quite loud and said "Yeah, thats a problem, you wanna get that sorted, would you like us to book it in?"....

Anyway i was telling the guys in the garage in morpeth what id been told, and saying how annoyed i was and that the alround service was pathetic and they needed investigating.... Anyway i was told shortly after by the head mechanic that walked me out to my car that the Director for Renault UK was visitting and was standing in the office as they were under audit!!!

WHOOPS!

So im wondering if Benfield will get auditted then??!!! I hope so... Im glad he was there at the time.

Anyway i went back down to Benfield in Newcastle and played hell , told the Service Manager what had happened and why i had been lied to / fobbed off... To cut the rest of the storey another mechanic came out took a listen and said "Yip, you need a new Throttle Body, this ones faulty". So its booked in for this Tuesday to get the new Throttle body put on but even the service manager had nothing to say, no apology nothing. It was as if it had never happened. I made sure they knew which mechanic it was that gave me the brush off but will anything happen??!!! I Doubt it...]

-------------------------------------------------------------------:

This was posted about 2 weeks ago, since then i have had a new throttle body put on which i was about 300 or so from what i seen from the warranty sheet. Anyway i noticed the buzzing sound coming from the Throttle body still hadnt gone. I took my Clio back to Renault and seen the same mechanic that originally told me that there was nothing wrong and he took me round 3 other 172s and even a 182 and everyone of them made this noise. NOT HAPPY. So i wasted my time and they wasted their money replacing a part that WASNT faulty. Now im not that bothered cause it cost me nothing but imagine if this was someone that had no warranty and they had to pay for this???? I think this is absolutley diabolical... but what can i do? any ideas?

When you turn the ignition on (not the engine) just so the lights come on on the dash board, then pop the bonnet and put your ear next to the induction kit / or filter. If you know where the throttle body is, its there. You will notice a buzzing sound coming from it. But this only happens when the ignition is turned. Never ever noticed it before this and ive had my car for 8 months now!....

it is the fuel pump. try it 3 or 4 times in a row and the noise gets shorter and then stops. each time you turn it on the fuel pump powers up to get the system to the required level once the required pressure in the fuels sytem is reached and the pump is not required and the noise stops genius!

i think we are getting a little picky here, if thats the worst thing you have to complain about, then you have a gooden

  RB 197 Cup

does the noise stop after a few seconds or does it keep going until u start the engine. with mine when i turn the ignition on the is a buzzing sound from the engine for bout 5 secs then stops. guessing thats the fuel pump. think every clio has the same.

It stays on all the time until the engine is started.... The mechanic told me that its when you turn the ignition the Throttle opens, and the sound coming from it is the motor inside keeping it open????

Now if this is a problem then they have either a:\ changed the wrong part and are getting totally confused, or b:\ the noise is supposed to be there!!!?

Now if Renault dont know then i will check every 172 i can find to check if the same happens to them cause the 3 that we checked on the forecourt made the noise. Thats why i was so puzzled... I hate problems!

Its not causing the car any harm or performance issues however im just annoyed that the people that are trained to diagnose and fix faults havent got a clue so where are we guys?
