Renault Cambelt Chnage Cheap price?

  2004 1.5 DCi 80 Dyna
*Change

Renault (B'ham) have just quoted me £348.75 for a Cambelt & Aux Belt change including labour and VAT.

Does this sound good?

my local garage who know quite alot (but aren't renault specialists) quoted me £180 for a cambelt change. but obviously you don't get the Renault 12 month warranty.

should I save the money and go for the cheaper option or go for Renault?

i'd bite their hand off for that price. i've been quoted that just for the timing aux belt.

is that with just the belts or the tensioners aswel?

i'd stick with renault, at least if something goes wrong they can afford to fix it.

Is that a 1.4??

£348.75 is quite a lot of money!!!

yeah 1.4

Taking it to my local garage, is the timing not an issue with clio's? would it not be worth taking it to the dealer to get it right or can any mechanic do it no probs?

I've had one done on a customers mk2 ph-1 1.4 8v by an independant and it was (from memory) about £120 all in for the whole shabbang. (That was trade though)

Not too sure mate.

Aren't you in Birmingham??

PM Fred, he's 10 times more trustworthy than the Renault Monkey's.

If its a K4J, which it will be if its a 16v, you will need the locking tools, so my advice, go to renault as that is a very good price from them.

As danny said, do the water pump (which is cambelt driven on these).
