Renault Standard Exhaust 172

I tried to call my local Renault dealer to get a quote for an exhaust for my 172, the girl on the other end got very confused and I didn't really get the answer I wanted - she even asked me what the BHP on my 172 was?! :quiet:

Anyway does anyone know what Renault charge for a cat back system on a 172 (2003)?

Before you all shout they are rubbish and get an aftermarket I've just got a quote from Ktec and they are over £400 for a Stealth fitted and I don't think I want anything that loud and I am not keeping the car forever so the OEM route is probably the option for me.

Thanks for any help.

:D

there expensive, think around £300 or £400 from renault, did you get put through to the parts department?

No, service department. That was painfull enough so I have just booked it in with them to look at.

I just wanted to know for a worst case senario - my exhaust is blowing slightly but it hopefully just needs the back box?

you may as well diagnose it yourself, or take it to a trusted local gagrage, as renault have a bad rep for fault finding, and they'll try to make you pay through the nose for anything they decide is wrong :S

Crap! I don't know what to do now.....

Ktec or Renualt!

:dapprove:

Really don't want a loud exhaust.

find one of your local zaust specialists and get a custom cat back made up

tis what i did! they put a centre box in the new mid section to make it nice and quiet :).. only noisey when u put the foot down!

  172 Cup (track) FS
the previous owner of my Cup had paid Kwik-Fit £355 for the OEM cat-back sections a few months ago.

I'd like to get something a bit more meaty as mine is a track car - but I don't want something that sounds like a howitzer on the back of a small car like the Clio.

having similar trouble deciding what to do.

Just remember though, the backbox is too heavy for the mount...the mount on the 172 is the same as for a 1.2, but the extra weight of the backbox means that they're prone to failure...some lasting longer than others! If you go custom...at least you can get the sound you want, with a lifetime guarantee...

Not gonna recommend Pro-Speed tho' ;)
