Renaultsport build quality improving

  Renault Laguna Coupe

Cant help thinking my new car is much better built than the 172 was. All the panels fit nicely, and the interior seems much more solid - no rattles etc and the fit of the headunit, glovebox and the other dash components seems a lot better.

Is the Dieppe factory making improvements?

Yeh I agree the 182 does seem to be a lot more stable in every sense of the word. Everything seems to work on my mates, no rattles, no bangs. Unlike my 172 and 172 before it. Was impressed with myne untill it had done a couple of thou. Now there are loads of rattles.

I was just speaking to a girl at Renault customer services tonight. I mentioned how much my 172 had rattled, and the V6 had less rattles but still looked like the same cheapo interior.

A little off topic, but she really sounded sexy. Still the same old blah blah blah wed like to care but in all honesty we dont crap, but having such a sweet voice helps to fool you enough into thinking they are bothered.

BOT Its good to hear the interiors dont rattle for a wee while though.

Its because the V6 is hand built and the rest are thrown together the V6s have always been better built!

Dont get me wrong, my 172 never broke down or anything like that, in fact it was trouble-free despite years of track days and quarter-mile racing. This one just feels so much more solid, better quality.

Our V now has 16k on it and it has one rattle. From the drivers side door, think its the window and the dealer is going to sort it under warranty. It is otherwise still as solid and rattle free as when new.

mine rattles, just like my 172 did, but then again my missus new mini convertable thing rattles even worse! think its jut luck of the draw whether you get a well put together one or not

Not had a Reno before so I have no previous cars to compare with, but mine has now done 13.5k and I have no reason to complain about anything, no rattles or problems whatsoever.

Servicing was a laugh as previous but car is great.
Have to come and show me your car Mike so I can compare.

My 182 has nearly 9,000 kms on it and there are only minor rattles to speak of, which oddly enough only seem to come into play first thing in the morning, and then go away for the rest of the day.

When I test drove the 182 i was very impressed with how it was screwed together and the quality of the leather/alcantara/dash plastics in comparison to my Fiesta.

Over on the zetec S owners club webby (zsoc.com), theyre forever giving the 182 a bad name saying the build quality isnt as good as the Fez - well, i own a Fez ZS and the interior sucks with rattles and creaks everywhere. The 182 seems to be a great improvement over the Renault of old.

I must admit that my 182 rattles a lot less than my Mk2 172.

Although now i have hit 4,000 miles i am noticing a few rattles but nothing i dont mind!

Anyway..i realise that you cant get the best build quality for such a great car with loads of power for 12grand!
