Replacement TV remote controls.

Anyone ever had to buy a replacement remote control?

Smashed mine up tonight rather stupidly, and just wondered where the best sort of place to get one is. I need the original manufacturers one, and not some cheap knock off.

found 1 company on line who wanted £256!!!! for a f**king remote control!!!!

my tv remote broke about 6 years ago and i bought a "barcode" remote which scans a barcode of the model of the tv, given in a booklet and ive had literally NO problems with it, around £30 from Argos IIRC...

i got one of them logitech ones cost bout 80-90 quid , there is cheaper , but it does every thing with set activities e.g

you click watch tv, and itll turn tv on turn yer sky on set tv to sky channel, and turn a cinema system on too if ya want.

i`ll admit button presses some times have slight delay when yer scrolling through menus, but it saves having 5 remotes out

You can control all of that (ok not all functions, but the important ones) from a Sky+ or Sky HD remote!

I control my TV, Sky+ and dvd/surround from the sky remote!

You enter the code sky using select+0 instead of select+red for normal TV.

Just search for your av system with "sky remote" in google (i.e "davs550 sky remote code" and hopefully you'll find it!

I can turn on/off, switch source, modify sound field and control volume from the sky remote, which is all I need to do!

Quite handy, not sure why sky don't advertise this fact because it's bloody useful!

well the remotes have a display on them so u can name functions / buttons and create ya own

so if theres a button it doesnt have e.g on tv sound menu , in the set up u just create a button name of yer choice then program it .

Most of the button press`s are stored on logitechs site , you can down load the software and see what it shows for yer tv though

thats software pretty easy to use and its all web based

had a look on ebay, but there is none there for my tv. It is quite a new set, so may not have one show up for a while.

mine is a lc52xl1e rather than a 2e... so it should work fine.

Didn't want to pay £100 just cos i was stupid enough to stand on it.

^ yeah i seen then while i was searching, thanks mate...

i'm just not 100% sure of them though. Seems v.v.cheap in comparison to the other prices i have seen on the internet... from £135 - £250 for the bloody thing. Boh websites are the same company too... and giving different prices. Seems suspect. I have emailed them though

I had this problem except it was for my freeview recorder Humax was relatively new so ebay didnt have anything. I ended going to the humax site and paying £39!

it learns commands from your old remotes though... and as mine is in 100 pieces... its not suitable
