Replacing O/S driveshaft tips

  2003 Clio 172
Hey gang,

Due to a pathetic split inner cv boot, i have to replace my drivers side driveshat*.

* intentional typo

Anyway, my new shaft has arrived and I am going to collect it this evening.

I was hoping someone could give me a heads up of what has to be done to remove the shaft over and above the undo hub/ball joint etc which I know.

How does the shaft come away from the box, is there anything holding it on? what about that carrier thing etc

Pretty urgent as i will be getting greasy/drunk this evening either way.

Wayhayyyy

Thanks
Andy

-Undo the hub nut slightly while the car is on the floor, jack up remove wheel.
- undo the track rod end and knock it free
- undo the ball joint bolts (easier than popping the ball joint out but either or)
-undo 2 bolts that are keeping the shaft in the carrier on ph2 shafts
- undo 3 bolts on the block that are holding the shaft to the block
- knock the shaft out of the hub
-pull shaft out from gearbox

Reverse for refitting :) Is pretty much the way I do it iirc

A late evenings work or a weekend job?

Hmm.....just thinking I have to be quiet as bambino sleeps above the garage, I might have to use my cotton wool hammer :approve:

Cheers chap

Should be able to yank it out, or a rubber mallet if you have one. Yeah thats the carrier, might just be because my car is so low but I needed to unbolt from the carrier first and remove a bit and then remove the carrier from the block.
If you can get away with just removing the carrier right away then go that route

All done, piece de la piss.

Yeah Cro mate.....was able to leave the bearing carrier on the car, undo the 2 bolts and pull the driveshaft out.

An hours work at most
