sorry thats the worst excuse i ever heard, clearly not interested in putting their money where their mouth is. They knew we wouldnt go for it.

no wonder everyone cusses them! and what kind of company charges £1 per mile?! I worl in insurance and recovery etc and NO-ONE charges more than 60ppm, even thats considered expensive in the trade.

use RE Performance Centre in Bury, we used it for a RR day last year so it would be a good comparison

Thank you for that information we are interested in taking up your offer but as our car is for sale please see our website for details, we may not have it then as we are now carrying out development work on our V6 Clio the results up to now are good I will keep you informed of the magazine that will test the car when finished, there are a few interested. With reference to the Rolling Road test day, we have arranged to borrow a customers car as he is away on holiday but does not wish the car to clock up nearly 500 miles round trip.I have agreed with him to bring the car down on our transporter to Power Engineering. As we have to be there at 8.30 on the 11th I will travel down on Friday and stay overnight this will not be a problem. I should just mention the cost involved as you are paying for all our expenses as stated in your invite and we appreciate this.We charge £1 per mile for the transporter, this would be £563.00 inc vat round trip and £150 for accommodation and meals this is a total of £713.00 half to be paid two weeks before and the balance on the 11th, I have not charged you for time involved and thank you once again for your invite.

missed out £20 for picking nose while car is on rollers, £80 for scratching arse while car is taken off trailer, and £380 for spending the day in the company of LAD non-beleivers

Maybe someone should speak to PGTI and get them to do a feature on Roamers car (Im sure they will) and then, in the article, throw down the gauntlet to LAD and anyone else, with a passing reference to LADs lame excuse for not coming down.

Obviously they have little faith in their own product, or think we are all plain stupid and believe the hype they spout!

Ever heard that Benny Hill song - Ernie, the fastest milkfloat in the west?!!!! Thats the LAD ;-)

Agreed...

Its not too far for them to travel and its a know good rolling road.

Someone get it sorted.

Cant anyone just phone them up or pop in to see them and ask why they are being so difficult? Say you will have the LAD conversion only if you see proven results of the 200bhp claim- show them the cash in your hand, it normally helps them to decide...

......i very much doubt you will spend any of your money

After today i doubt LAD will speak to me again. i dont want anything to do wth em.

As i didnt honour the "agreement" (hey how was i to know a £50 petrol bill would end up a £750 bill?)

But fair play to them time is money and all that.

No Tom in their game time spent doing things like this is worth money to them in sales, time spent at a ClioSport Rolling Road event (Esp. at Power Engineering - well respected RR) would be worth money to them, "Speculate to Accumulate" - but instead they are now not doing themselves any favours.....

Even before my TBs get into kit form I know there are several guys Ill be going round to see/demo to, and thatll be all out of my back pocket (Unless people wanna buy me a beer or two ;))

Unbelievable. If I had the money, Id pay his stupid expenses just to see his car on the Rollers. Ive had no dealings with the man or company, but this is clearly not the way to be winning custom.

£150 for one nights meal and bed and breakfast? Wheres he staying? The f*cking Ritz?

I think some research should be done into flatbed hire with full insurance - after all, we wouldnt want to do things by half measures and just get a trailer that could be claimed as unsuitable. Full video evidence of the car as it arrives and as it is loaded onto the trailer would have to be taken, just in case anything is mysteriously damaged, a camera would video the whole journey and the same treatment would have to be applied at the other end.

I just get the feeling that this man would try his best to get what he could out of any situation...

All this is of course in my personal opinion, and should in no way be construed as the views of Cliosport. I am merely exercising my right to free speech.

can i just add to this that at our RR day last year, Nick Hill came down in a 172 he was playing with, now this wasnt even a finished car but he stuck it on the rollers in front of everyone, and travelled many miles payin for his own petrol and his own run on the rollers..........

thats how you do business, well thats how you do it if your confident in your own ability

I bought my Evo VI from Ralliart in Spain and had it shipped from there to Luxembourg for €500!

You can ship a car across the Atlantic for about $600!

Bollix, I say!

lol sounds like a cop out to me...."Ill ask for a load of cash then they will not bother.." Why not get one rrd up nearer them..Powerzone in Padiham, another rr in Bury.
Well, Powerzone is near me (and you) and the RR is not the best setup and has no computer hooked up to it, so no graphs.

But, RE at Bury would be a good idea...
Naa m8. Theyve just got a new RR. Full printout of your runs now and probably more accurate than the old one they used b4

Really?!

When did they invest in that then???

Any idea what system it is?!

Its only a few mins away from me, so I might have to "pop in" over the weekend and take a look at the setup. This is good news for me as I wont have to travel for use of a decent rolling road.

Not sure what system it is, but its much better than b4. If your going let me know, fitting my Rsport 2nite so I give you a spin to see what you think

Tom
That is not a problem if you are in the north of England anytime you are more than welcome to see one of our Clio cars on our Rolling Road, or bring your car for a power read out and that will cost you nothing, just give us some advance notice and thank you once again for thinking of us, we may see you a Donnington if we can clear the backlog of work.
Regards
Ernie Larton.

Well that was nice of him, maybe hes not so bad............

You should really get it on the rollers first, then fit the R-Sport ECU and re-run it again to see what power & torgue gains it gives!

Im really keen on getting one, so Id be very interested in this, although someone else just got an R-Sport ECU and is on about doing that.

You fitting it yourself tonight then?!

When you get it fitted I definately want a spin in it! ;)

You can try my Viper on and see what you think.

Actually, PM me your mobile number.

Yeah, hes probably a nice guy really and he just gets a lot of bad press on the forums...

Ive never heard a bad word said about the quality of the work done by LAD and they do a good job by all accounts. Theyre also well regarded in motorpsort circles, but its the wild power claims of their road car conversions that seem the be the main concern.

Would be good to get a car on the rollers at LAD then compare to somewhere else and see if they are accurate or not.

I have skipped through this topic, but am interested in the basics of it. Can someone email me or PM me, just outlining how this topic came about?

If it is any help, I can transport a car - I have 2 car trailers and 2 tow vehicles, so if anyone requires a car taken somewhere (seemed to get that impression from the postings!) then let me know.

Im interested in this as I am considering getting into the engine modification world and am interested in what other companies do and how they do it.

Why dont you take him up on his offer to RR a standard car for free and compare it to one of their modified cars? It will give you a pretty good idea of the difference between standard and their 200 kit. If you then take the standard car to Power Engineering........ get the idea. For those of you who dont know the LAD rolling road is a straightforward power displayed on a big dial type with no computer link and therefore no easy way of doctoring the figures.

To give you a bit of background... LAD do the engine rebuilds on my rally car ( a proper Citroen Saxo kit car if your interested - http://www.badgermotorsport.co.ukwww.badgermotorsport.co.uk) and I know how busy they are and how far in advance I have to book an engine rebuild. Whilst it may seem a bit off asking for £7?? expenses, if you run a business that has a 4 month orderbook why would you want to treck to the other end of the country to prove the power figure of a conversion when you now that very few ( if any) of the people there would spend money with you anyway.

Its called PROMOTION. This is a cliosport forum, to say very few members here would spend thier money with LAD is a joke, course people would if they could just prove thier claimed output of 200bhp.

I do try Paddymph!

Well I thought if anybody wants the use of the trailer at v reasonable rates (IMO) then I can certainly help out.

However, I must point out that the trailers are not available for hire - I tried that once and everytime they came back damaged, winches wound up poorly etc. So now I do all the transporting, especially as one of the trailers is brand new!

Well lets find out......

If LAD took their 200 bhp car to an independant rolling road and proved that it had over 200 bhp, how many of you would give them a deposit cheque on the spot?? Of course you need to own a 172 or a cup to answer.

i would. - but only if my car produced 200bhp too.

if not no deal. no 200bhp = breach of contract

Ok, so first, what if we offer tickets out at £10 a shot for one of the best comedys ever. Get loads of cliosport people there to laugh at them when it fails. Make them feel very small.

I like the way they want to use a customers car, just incase it doesnt hit the figures, it could be blaimed on them.

So £700 could be used to bribe the RRd people to make it a good run for them, or too actually pay the customers car. Got to make it worth it for them.
