Anyone got a pic?

Whats that box after the filter? noticed it today when removing my cold air feed.. seems like a useless box in the middle of the cold air feed... what does it do?

Its the airfilter lol.

Buggered if i know how to open it though !

But some tights over that "hole" in yours or you will suck up all sorts of crap into your engine.

Can't find anything in the Haynes, but i'll bring it with me when i come over Ahmed.

what does it do? its not an acoustic valve or anything? when you look down the box its just a pipe going straight through it with a small breather hole halfway down that seems to go to the rest of the box... :S

WTF.

The large box is the air box. It should contain a filter.

They'll then be the inlet tract at the back of the airbox which leads the the throttle body, which on the K4M is at the back of the engine.

I don't see why it's so confusing?

yellow bit has the filter inside it, red box is just a box that seems to just disturb the flow of air

Right, the bit that says 16v on is the plenum and the throttle body is pointing back of it towards the bulkhead. Theres a massive box which goes down the back of the engine which has a rectangle hole on the side where the filter sits and a reducer, which has an oval outlet, screws too it to secure the filer. The resonator then clamps too it (the box you are asking what it is) then the feed from that goes to the inner wing.

All the retards saying its an airbox are wrong. You can remove the resonator and piping and fit a bigger CAF to the airbox but youll have to rig up the end to fit the oval airbox end. Or remove it completely for noise but it'll do nothing for performance.

Yeah, any difference in performance will be negledable unless its a uber hot day.

Yeah, in that case providing you put the feed in a decent place, it'll be better than stock as the resonator has holes in the pipe to reduce noise but it interupts flow too. They'll be no massive difference but you wont be doing any harm!

It's a resonator to keep engine noises down.

My focus had one on the side of the air-box also my brothers swift has one before the air box.
