richbrook gear knob

hi im looking to purchase a richbrook gear knob for my clio 172 but i do not get how to fit it as i have the lift type reverse leaver .... does the actuall gear knob come of and the lifter for reverse just stay on the gear stick?

If you heat it up, eventually it will just twist off (the popular method is using mr hacksaw) but IMO oem gear knobs look the best, by all means spray it but I think they can look cheap.
