Rip in tyre

So one of the 1000 mile old Conti Sportcontact on the front has a rip in the raised rubber area on the rim. Looks scary, but I'm hoping it isn't as bad as it looks.

Can one of your knowledgable guys in here have a look and tell me what the score is with it?

This is my car, excuse the weird stance it is parked on a hill (see 4th pic).

well it will fail mot but i think your okay as long as it's not too deep. wouldn't go near a track with it though.

It's quite deep but seems to be in the 'rim protection' area of the tyre only. What a pain in the arse.

Looks ok to me from the pic . How many people have rips , cuts , chunks out of their tyres and drive obvlious to the fact ? It's probably thousands !

Just keep your eye on it but i think you'll be fine .
