I love how mine sounds! induction noise is louder than the exhaust

Im definatley going to order a heatshield from e-bay for my K&N 57i. Should stop as much hot air getting in. I may even be a real geek and buy a chefs thermometer and install it next to the induction kit to see what sort of temparatures are under there when is moving and when its sat still. Got to be worth an experiment!:sleepy:

i persoanlly can't see how having an open filter looses the torque, just can't undersand the logic, why would a higher air flow mean u loose the torque?

Plus although the air box is sealed, it must still get heated up under the bonnet, thus heating the flowing air briefly. I agree with barley182, how does the torque become lost?:S Anyone know the temperature differences between induction kit air sucked in, compared with a standard panel filter set up? :race:

Lol its not from the dryer! its from the boiler that heats the swimming pool pmsl.

i like the idea, but its a bit of a bodge, also if u go through a puddle, or even when it rains your risking your engine, if i was you i would reconsider, an engine rebuild would be costly, probably not even worth the money on a mk1. but well played for the bravery and roar factor!!

I dont drive it in the rain for that reason!! and if it rains while im out, then i will take it off and move it.

nice thought, just a bit problomatic!!put it further into the engine, then replace fog with cold air feed dude? and engine needs cold air to produce a better spark. its not that the air is heated slightly on its way in, thats not the issue with induction kits, the problem is that they suck the warm air which is around it. cold air is slightly thinner and produces a better spark, hense why a heatsheild is needed!!the colder the air, the better the spark, hense why your car runs bit nippier/quicker at night?!

if you disconnect the cold air feed from the air box, my K&N panel filter sounds just as beasty as induction kit!!(standard filters same sound) thats what i did before my exhaust, and its not fully attached now cause im using 6inch (diamater) tube, so ive covered the hole, so good air and sounds crazy too, specially with my exhaust going!!
