Rocker cover gasket leak :(

Just spotted a small amount of oil coming from the rocker gasket...days after the warranty ran out

Is it an easy job to replace as it looks like the inlet manifold has to come off and its gaskets replaced too ?

i think its cambelt off to aint it...or that wot ive been told as mine needs doing

rocket doesnt have a gasket they use that red silicone stuff. I'll get slated but I just nipped the offending bolt up a quarter turn. To get the rocker off you need to remove the the pulleys. Search around there is loads of info on this

i'd go to the dealers kick a stink up about it happening just after the warranty run out they might do it on a good will gesture ???

i no we would do it at work but i don't work for renault !!!

I think i'll nip the bolts up first and wipe away any oil...then just keep an eye on it for a few miles and see what happens !

Lets hope its not going to be like my old 205 Gti which was nearly mint but had a job-a-week to be done !

Do a search mate theres been about 5 threads on this in the last few weeks with loads of replies/cures/fixes etc.

If its leaking around a bolthead, some people take out the bolt, gunk loads of sealant round it, wack it back in and torque it to 12n/m, some people wait till cambelt time, and while its 90% stripped and timed anyway just wip the cover off and re-seal the whole carrier.

As in previous thread ive just had my manifold off and found 4 bolts horsing out oil. since removed every bolt put a tad of sealer under each bolt head and torque down. all good so far. you will need to replace the big O ring on top of cam cover to manifold and also the manifold gasket in between the two halves.......if u wanna do it right that is!
