Roll cage front hoop

When fitting a roll cage which goes behind the dash do you lose anything like vents, tweeters etc. and is there anything that needs relocating such as wiring or fuse boxes?

With mine anyway it goes through just to the outer edge of tweeters (you'll lose them) and you'll have to chop up the underneath of the dash to suit. It still looks oem from the outside though.

Depending what you do you'll have to relocate the side fuse box on N/S door check. Chop down the steel frame that holds the dash. The Oreca cage is touch and go for the square multi plug that comes through bulkhead (I managed just) which is easily resolved by taking 10-20mm out of the 'a' pillar pieces ( I never done this) where it attaches to the main roll over hoop.

Also if you want a front dash bar then you have to get pretty chopy in behind the dash for that too. If you do everything right you will be able to keep your centre and outer (demist) and also your windscreen demist vents. The UCH and all that gubbins will have to move slightly too. This is all for the mk2 dash though remember.

Ill go and get some pics from my iPad that show the Oreca in some detail.

My OMP sounds similar to Morgan's Oreca. I did away with all vents except the windscreen.

UCH still mounted in original position. think there was some issue with the fuse box though as I ended up moving it to where the air bag was - the wiring allowed this without modification.

My custom cages front hoop passes through the dash, retains the tweeters and all heater vents/outlets. I cut the lower dash cage up to aid fitting and also moved the fuse board. That's now mounted in the glove box.

That's good. I'm going to be getting a custom cages club cage (the main and front hoop) then make some removable rear stays and door bars.

How does it fit down the b pillar and the two hoops? Is there room to keep the headlining? And if the seatbelt mounting points are spaced out I could keep the belts I guess as I doubt there's enough room for them with the cage.

I think your trying to do too much Tom, if you're wanting a cage that goes in no problems then just buy a safety devices (bare metal) and modify from there to allow people in the back when needed.

It fits quite close down the b pillar mate and there's definitely no room for the headliner or standard belts. Rear belts yes, fronts, not a chance. The main hoop blocks access to them.

I don't want a dash dodger though, I want something that fits nice and close, the SD one is designed around the interior so I'd have to have it out of the car and store it somewhere. Then refit it when I need it.

If I get the CC Club cage then I can leave it in and just bolt the rear stays in when I need them. The only problem would be sorting the seatbelt mount but that's doable, then its a tighter fitting cage with the front bars more out of the way and no rear bars in the back to worry about.

Stick them on here too for rest of us to see.
I don't know how to do it off my phone mate! I've not got tapatalk or photobucket and I don't know how to do it with Flickr. Any suggestions mate?

Thanks Mark

If Mark's happy with that I'll upload them to PB.
Yeah happy for you to do that Tom. Unless someone can tell me how to upload from Flickr to here using an iPhone?!

I'll post those pics when I get a chance Tom. I was under the impression that SD cages were straight fit with no interior removal except the rear seats.

Get Photobucket on your phone Mark, its so easy. That's all I ever use to upload photos and to surf in here tbh. Hence the awful spell checker corrections at times.

They are, but that's one of the downsides in that the bars are close to your head if you had a bump and no helmet.

I'd rather a non-dash dodger so the bars follow the frame of the car.
