Rolling Road question

Ive just been chatting to a mate of mine who races a Caterham. I mentioned that Im taking my car to the Midlands Rolling road day tomorrow to which he replied "rather you than me". So I asked him why.

As his Caterham is put on the rollers on a regular basis he knows what to expect, and reckons that my front tyres will be shot afterwards. Is this the case?

Also hes seen numerous cars leap off rollers? Obviously he has to sit on the back of his 250bhp fag paper light car. The tubby 172 shouldnt have this problem Id guess.

Just wanted to have my mind put at rest before I go ahead tomorrow.

Anyone got anything to add about the risks of putting a car on a Rolling Road?

Thanks

Lee (with his 2nd sensible post of the week)

well i aint had the experiance of a RR but i have heard that they Ratchet strap your car at the back to stop it jumping off of the RR and if it is as bad as you have heard id be suprised that this lot on here do it as often as they do!

Ok, the tyre wear thing.... well the tyres do suffer a bit more wear as they are running against two rollers therefore two contact points on the tyres, but it isnt like youre tyres are gonna be shagged after a run, blimey my tyres should still just about be ok after the few days its gonna spend on the rollers getting set up.

Most every place will strap your car down, there is a risk that a car might jump the rollers but it rarely happens, and even then its only with big power or superlights normally.

No worries mate.... chill itll be fine.

Lee - stop panicing, I wasnt gonna put mine on cos I didnt want to hear it "scream" but its ok - even my baby survived the last midlands rr !! :D
