Roof Aerial Removal

  Clio Sport 172
This might sound a stupid question but I have just bought a bee-sting type roof aerial as I hate the long standard one. But I was wondering how you actual remove the old aerial? I thought that it just unscrewed but I can't get it to budge at all. And i can't see any visible screws to remove?

Am I just being thick or blind? :S

Tried but it won't budge at all. Even tried gripping it with a torque wrench and twisting it but it is solid fixed. It is the aerial at the front of the car on this model not the type like on yours at the rear. My girlfriend had a 52 plate clio like yours and your right this just simply unsrew off.

Mine's at the front too... I have a 306.

But the only thing I can think of is that a previous owner has glued it in to stop it from being stolen. In that case it might be easier to get a new mount as well.

I had this problem.

Get some WD40, spray the base of the aerial, get a rag and wrap up the aerial, get some grips and twist the aerial gentley. It should budge.
