RS192 sound difference with / without centre box

  RB 182 Cup
I've currently got an RS192 system fitted to my 182 with the centre section replaced by a straight through section.

Being in my mid 40s I find it a bit loud and resonant cruising at 60-70 mph.

I've still got the original centre section that was given to me when I bought the car and am considering putting this back on the car.

I'm just wondering if putting this on is going to make a descent enough difference, or am I better off just getting a quieter system?

I'd really appreciate findings of people that have removed or replaced middle boxes and the difference this has made to exhaust noise.

Thanks in advance

Straight through centre sections cause boomy zorsts. Put the silenced section back on if it bugs you ;)

As you still have the center section, i would put that back on the car. It will be cheaper for you to do that than buying a new system. The standard rs192 system is very subtle and any quieter than that is oem. If you decide you want to go back to standard after then you can always sell the scorpion system as a whole system rather than a modified one.

Still has the cat, just got a quote of about £100 from SWR in Stirling so will be booking in within the next few weeks.

Once off, if anyone local wants a straight through mid section, it's yours for nothing. Has been adapted to prevent the usual RS192 leak (see below) and will therefore require your cat / de cat pipe adapting too.

Just as an update for those wondering if the middle box on the RS192 system makes a lot of difference to sound levels. A resounding HUGH YES!

After removing my straight through section today and replacing this with the RS192 middle box the car is now sounds a lot quieter, no booming on the motorway, no droning when I let my foot off the accelerator, no resonance at tickover. It's like I'm in a different car, still a nice sound, but so much more pleasurable from inside. Not that the RS192 is by any means a really obnoxiously loud system with the straight through pipe in it, it's just more suited to my middle aged ears with the centre box fitted.

I can't imagine the standard system sounding much different to my RS192 system now, just mine won't rot and need replacing every two years or so!

i have a rs192 still with middle box and cat and i think its to quiet and quite a boring sound IMO...need something to make it a bit more exciting :)

I'm too old now for a noisy car, but removing the centre box will make a huge difference if you like that sort of thing, but still not sound like a Challenger tank and have your neighbours keying you car in the hours of darkness ;-)

im actually thinking of changing my exhaust altogether...would rather a wee raspy exhaust that deep drone lol. i thought about removing the center section as its blowing anyway(as always with these rs192's)
