Hi just read the very long and controversal thread about the self programme RSTuner kit.

I am very interested in buying the kit. Just wondering if anyone that has bought the kit has hadd a before and after RR done. Would be interested to see the results. My 172 is completely standard at the mo (performance wise) i fell this generic map will be as good as any????:S

Please only people that have used the kit reply, i dont want to restart the controversy of the previous thread:rasp:

Just go to rstuning in leeds, they can do a custom map for your car on their rolling road. Cost will be slightly more, but worth it.

^Not what he's asking though is it, and with no other mods it wouldn't be worth while.

AFAIK Nobody has actually fitted and done an RR, which was the point of much debate in the other thread IIRC - what gains does it give?

Personally I'd not worry about a remap for now. Get a decat/sport cat as the PH2 172 is restrictive, exhaust, panel filter, inlets - then remap and indeed as per last reply goto RS Tuning/GDI for your remap.

As I said in the other thread, RR is booked for a week on Saturday, still got to confirm if I'm allowed 2 runs as it's a group booking, if not it'll only have the newer map on I'm afraid, not the original to compare to I don't know what the outcome will be, for the cost of the kit I'm not too fussed, I just want to know if it is actually any good

If the gains are great then I'll be reverting back to standard and whackign it all for sale

Part of the reaosn is that I'm so far away from anyone who can semi live map it that I'd only be getting one through the post anyway.

Chris - dont you just find it better to drive? I did mine last week with the kit and think the whole car just feels and responds better. TBH im not fussed if ive gained loads of bhp, i doubt it, i just like the way the car drives now with the map than i did before.

BTW doesn't it somehow lock itself to one ECU?

Yes soon as you turn the ignition it will lock to your ECU, but they can be unlocked.

me thinks ill order one then. Im getting an Itg panel filter for xmas and poss de-cat depending on if i can sweet talk my bro enough.
So this would be a great additition by the sounds of the comments on here it works really well.

i'm thinking of getting one of these for christmas would be good to here what the gains are, but the price still works out way less than another map from other people like k-tec/gdi... so i think that would be the main factor

Don't forget you get all the diagnostic software and data logging with the RSTuner as well - you won't get that with a remap from someone else.

I'm not sure, I'm finding it hard to tell tbh as it could just be a placebo effect Yeah it does feel different, but no idea if it actually is hence I want some kind of before and after analysis.

The diagnostic stuff is cool as well, getting the live log of a run is quite cool checking out what's going on with everything.

Can you diagnose and turn off fault lights with the kit? assuming you probably can just want confirmation??

Pretty sure there's a big button at the bottom of the software that lets you clear any codes, plus it displays any outstanding fault codes if you have any. Not got any or had any to see on mine so can't confirm how/if it works.

Cool thanks definately worth looking into for me as i need something to turn off the light so i mayaswell do the map at the same time
