Nah it should be feeling good after about 500 miles mate, tho you shouldn't really thrash it til around 1000 most say.

'Says he with the 3 week old 182 with not even 600 miles on the clock yet' lol

  MINI JCW
I read on here that is should feel faster after a couple of thousand miles but to be honest i cant tell no difference, all engines are supposed to get faster with age

Renault claim 650 miles take it steady then should be run in about 1500 miles

When is warm give it death. You have to put some hard load on the engine from new otherwise the pistons rings won't bed in properly. You've only about 25 miles to do this.
They do get faster and more free reving with age. Yozzas example with 80k was one of the quickers around I think.

treat popping down the shops as if you were qualifying for the Monaco GP

seriously no need to run them in, thrash it

you need to use the full rpm of the engine in its early life definatley

Did you do that with your cup mate? If so any major problems?

None at all. Obviously when I say normal I mean let the oil get up to temp and don't drive on the limiter all day.

With my previous 172 I followed the recomended run in period exactly but when I got the Cup I didn't bother. You could definately tell which engine was more willing.

lol i reckon i might just about to be able to last ten minutes before redlining it! Its unlikely that you'd keep the car forever anyway!

Yeh ive read that before too... thing is, i know sod all really about the way all this works in an engine and although it sounds like he is telling the truth id like someone to come on here who also knows a thing or two just to confirm that, yeh, there is truth in it... i had a new engine in my cup a bit ago and run it in hard... all is great... not a prob at all (touch wood!)
