Running Problem On 2001 1.2 16v Clio

Hi,

I have recently been having problem with the electrics of my car, the heaters havent been working and wipers are staying on etc.

Last night i had been driving my car for work all evening with no problems accept for the above. When i went to leave the car idled very rough and seemed to have a big missfire. It would continue to idle roughly for about ten seconds then cut out! If the car was reved the misfire seemed to dissapear. I tried to drive it but after 100 yards or so it just wanted to cut out and not accellerate!

Now whilst the car has no key in the ignition there is a clicking noise coming from the left hand side of the engine, (sounds like a headlight adjuster tapping but it hasnt done this previously).

If anyone has any idea to what it could be, i would be very greatful!

Just been out for another look and noticed that when keyed on the car hunts with a missfire, then the electrical warning light comes on and cuts the engine out as if to save it from damage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

No idea coil pack? crank shaft censor? that would cause it to cut out and refuse to start other than that you would have to take it somewere and get it looked
