Running wire from cabin to engine bay

Car  Golf GTD Mk7
Was planning on running it through the handbrake cable grommet, but it won't go through. It feels like the grommet is sealed when I remove the power steering reservoir and have a feel. Any ideas or other options as where to run it.

Seriously that's the best/easiest route. I've done it on both my 172 and 182 in the past and it took seconds. If you weren't in lancashire I'd offer to sort it for you it's genuinely that painless.

i ran a cable though under the glovebox but to be fair it was a serious ball ache lol. I dont remember having any trouble with any of the 3 non sport clios i had before this one and they all had systems in them!! very odd.

Really :S I've tried forcing the cable (15mm) through and nothing. There is the bonnet release and some other wiring going through already, and it feels like they are molded to the grommet on the engine side. I thought it would be a simple push through jobbie

Go underneath the glove box, bend your back into an awkward S shape, push the grommit into the engine bay with a rod of some sort, make extra room on the grommit for your wire, replace.

Mine have both gone through alongside the release cable in the centre of the grommet with a firm push. If you're struggling you could poke a small flatblade through alongside the cable to start it then remove and push the cable through the same route.

See what i mean? Only the wiring has a hole, the middle/top is moulded :S

Screwdriver throught grommet to open up hole a bit.

Failing that use the bonnet cable grommet, thats the grommet i used to take the wires from my oil gauges to the senders in the engine bay.

P.s a bit of lube may help ;)
