since this latest pic the car is ready to be dropped down on its wheels , its currently having custom brackets made up to fit some clio 197/200 brembos :)

they are cracking cars , but as with most old cars now , be prepared to spend a fortune AFTER u buy it lol . will be running cossie management etc , aiming for around 240bhp

My mate is currently doing this to an rst he's painted his white too only he's not as fussy as you're being and just putting old rusty bits back on it as he will be rallying it

What a waste !!

its a waste putting old rusty bits back on lol . the shell was sanblasted , had every bit of rust cut out etc which cost ALOT lol

What a waste !!

You say that, my Dad has built many mk1 Escorts but the one he went the most 'all out' on was a Modena Green mk1 rs2000. Built much like this escort rst - took him 5 years to build with every single piece looking better than when it came out the factory. In the end he sold it as he didn't want to take it out if the clouds were a little too dark. THAT'S a waste, he even admitted it.

Get them looking nice, yes. But you need to enjoy driving them too imo.

The shell he bought was rusty as feck, he's chopped bits out and rebuilt it very well though and resprayed it himself. He only bought it to rally anyway and tbh I can't wait :)

They really aren't. I owned one years ago which was mint, but they are average in every department

Any resto job that takes the chassis back to the metal with sandblasting and then starts a rebuild - actually gets me moist.

Would love the opportunity and the wallet to be able to do something like this.

D.

Please just put it back to standard, more sought after and original, means more value.
IMO they were s**t unless they were standard and so many S1 and S2's were ruined this way.
top work though

People who restore cars to hold value are the people that would put it in a garage and never drive it.

Not everything is about re-sale value.

I agree, but so many cars lose their originality and that's what makes it the car it was in the first place instead of the wrong wheels, chavvy lights etc. so many rarer cars seem to have been messed with and it's a shame.
my XR2 was original and used every day

At the end of the day, why own a car to please other people? f**k that. If i listened to the majority of people i know i'd have never bought my vtr, 172, mx5 or bmw. Yet i've enjoyed owning all of them! (172 less than all of them probably though tbf).

If he wants to mod it, he can mod it. Life's too short to think about resale value or what the masses think on a car like this. It's something you own to enjoy.

Love these cars.....I owned 4 and two of them I rebuilt. The last one I had was a modified show car, that was stolen so ended the love of owning one. I've got a part flocked dash that's been sitting at work for about 6 years if your brother is interested.

Did I say I was stopping anyone modding it? I'm just saying its a shame there are few original versions left as opposed to modded ones that IMO spoil it. I am entitled to think that. Put two together an original and a modded one and I personally now which I'd go for.

Serious soft spot for these, defo a thread to follow :) keep up the good work looks like your doing a cracking job.

I went to buy one in 2000 and found it to be a ringer..... Will have one one day and still got my reg plate waiting to go on :) A10 RST sitting on the E30 for time being..... One day hopefully it will go on a S2 RSTurbo
