Sat Nav - can you tell it where to go?

eg: I want to go down the A1234 then the B5678 (because it's nice and twisty) then the M4 (to test my camera detector) or whatever and have it navigate for you ?

I guess it probably depends on which you've got - I'm considering buying something like the Road Angel Naviator (or maybe a Snooper Indigo (?) after reading a few posts on here) but I was just wondering how easy it is to force them to follow a particular route if I know where I want to go and which route I want to take but I can't be bothered to write myself some directions out.

Also, any opinions on which to get for SatNav + speed camera detection :D

Ta.

yeah you can mate, i have the pioneer avic x1r and a Road angel compact.. u can tell it to go past a petrol station, a house, down a certain road, anything you want.. takes a bit longer to input it, but if thats what u want.. lol

If you are looking to get a Speed Camera Detector and also a Sat Navigation

Then i do highly recommend the RA Navigator and also the Snooper Indago
These are both well specd units which are worth looking at.

PDA's or tomtom's with speed camera add ons are not as good.
They are not updated as much
Database lacks locations

^^ mainly because they are free of charge and not maintained financially.

True ;) I tend to look on the map and see I want to go from X to Y via these roads because they look "interesting" roads - i.e. not motorways so more fun generally - but it usually involves lots of tricky A and B roads and turning off on the A234234233453413431 in some village I've never even heard off.

It's difficult to navigate these kinds of route when you are in the car on your own as I demostrated a few weeks ago by going in completely the wrong direction and having to go back up a bit of road I'd just driven down

So I'd like Sat Nav to tell me when to turn off, but I want to specify the route :rasp:

Good point.

I was just looking at the RA, but I'll have a look at the Snopper too. It seems to be mentioned as being good in a few other threads as well.

Yup both very nice bits of kit

From the many we have sold, we only had 1 return on a RA Navigator.
This was the battery discharging too quick.

Simple battery replacement, no other problems with either units :)

Thats nice to know. I see the RA is slightly cheaper. I'm guessing I'd need an external ariel as well so I could put it under the gap in the windscreen or somewhere else.
