scorpion decat prob!

my em light has come on and because my car is still under warranty I took it back instantly. After doing test I was told it was because my car had been decated which I knew nothing about. They said they would replace it with a proper cat, but they are having problems because it's a complete scorpion system and they are saying the cat will fita the manifold part but not the rear. I thought cat is a straight swap, after reading other posts about swapping for mots. Can this sometimes be a problem then? Cheers

Regular cat will fit the scorpion system for the 182 - fact.

They are probably saying this because a new cat is about £2500!

Second hand cat in good condition would be a good option, should fit if the scorpions normal.

Make sure they use a genuine renault manifold to cat gasket kit if its needed.

im not mechanical at all so sorry for all the questions. but currently coming out the rear of my de cat is a stainless pipe (this is what i assume the garage are finding hard to join to) but would a cat like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CATALYTIC...arParts_SM&hash=item337a0d1474#ht_3352wt_1300 possibly fit? cheers

It kind of looks like someone has out the decat on the wrong way round :S

I may be completely wrong but it looks like the flat flange that usually meets the manifold closer to the engine, is actually being met at the center silencer.

Its a bit hard to tell because the pic that needs to be seen more is the last pic in your pics showing the actual de cat.

Maybe the de cat is custom made for easy removal for MOT time, trouble is looks like on the center silencer thay usually has a rounded lip to clamp on the normal Cat has been cut off and a flange welded on to meet the flange on the de cat, might need a new center silencer and cat or get a specialist exhaust place to
Weld what was cut off back on so the cat can be v clamped back on.

thats what im thinking. i bought it from a vw garage. i would have thought they would have been experienced enough to do some welding? would it be a difficult job to weld a piece on to turn it back so a v clamp could go on?

I imagine it wouldn't be too hard but you'd be better off linking them to a cat and new scorpion center silencer and saying that's what needs doing please.

Looks like a stnadard De-cat to me.
Clamp fitting on the rear end. and flange on the front (with a gasket)

It looks exactly like a scorpion decat, there should be no problem re-fitting a cat.

I fitted mine for an mot only last week, 20 minute job!

That's a better picture, yeah their right. It's got a sleeve fitting (non standard)

It's gona be cheaper to get a new center silencer and cat off here.

right ok. its for them to buy one, not that they will want to. at least i now know they aint trying to just brush me off. can you buy scorpion silencers separately? cant seem to find any. or can a custom cat be bought to fit?
